About EFFY 100% Acrylic Rug Yarn

This is not knitting acrylic. Our acrylic yarn is specifically developed for rug tufting.

Unlike standard acrylic yarn, this yarn:

• Has a strong internal structure
• Does not sag when tufted
• Keeps fibres straight and compact
• Produces dense, durable rugs

It differs significantly from EFFY Cotton Blend Yarn (80% cotton / 20% acrylic):

• Cotton Blend uses 8 loosely wound strands
• Acrylic Rug Yarn uses 3 tightly wound strands
• Acrylic is easier to carve, cleaner to cut, and far less stringy
• Acrylic holds its structure far better once tufted

While rug wool is still the gold standard for rug making, we know it’s expensive. This acrylic yarn offers a much more affordable, durable alternative for both beginners and experienced tufters.

Important Usage Notes

• You must tuft with 2 strands at all times, unless your gun’s hole size has been altered
• You can wind half a cone off and tuft using a cone + cake setup if preferred
• Suitable for cut-pile and loop-pile tufting guns
